A Perfect Day in Whitefish - January
A local's guide to a perfect January Day

If it’s January in Whitefish than there’s an abundance of snow. My perfect day begins with a dog walk along the Whitefish River through Riverside Park—a winter wonderland of snowy trees lining the partially frozen river.

Next I head to the mountain for a few hours of skiing powder with friends. I cannot resist taking photos of the snow ghosts at the summit, even though I live here, heck I even work up here! Yet they are spectacular forms that symbolize the magical way nature transforms into its winter beauty. For lunch, I stop in at the Summit House for views overlooking the valley and Glacier National Park. Depending on my mood, I'll either head to the International Food Line for the day's special, or go with my all-time favorite Ski Bum Burrito with the mango habanero sauce.

After an après ski beer at Bonsai Brewing Project, I grab the pups again and head out for a snowshoe walk on the Whitefish Trail.
