Festival Amadeus 2017
A week of Mozart and Beyond - Mountains by Day, Music by Night

Festival Amadeus will celebrate its 10th season this summer with a grand concert performance of Mozart’s fairytale opera “The Magic Flute.” The in-concert production will be a two-night finale for the week of classical chamber and orchestra concerts held August 8-13, in Whitefish. Additionally, two chamber concerts will be presented in Bigfork at Bethany Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 11.



     Maestro John Zoltek, Founding Musical Director of Festival Amadeus, has planned a diverse complement of music for the week beginning with  “Lyric and Heroic” on Tuesday, Aug. 8. Guest pianist, Tanya Gabrielian will be featured in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G with the Festival Amadeus orchestra under the baton of Maestro Zoltek. It will be followed by Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 in Eb major The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.
         Wednesday, Aug. 9, Chamber Night 1 features Ms. Gabrielian who will be joined by violinist, Yevgeny Kutik, for an engaging duo program. Both of these fine musicians are returning to the Festival for their second time. The concert will be held in the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish at 7:30 p.m.  The duo will repeat their performance in Bigfork on Friday, Aug. 11, 7:30 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church.
         “Prokofiev and Mendelssohn” are the featured composers on Thursday, Aug. 10 at the WFPAC. This concert features violinist Kutik with the Festival orchestra in Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in G minor followed by Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A Major. Mozart’s Impresario Overture opens the evening.
         Chamber Night 2 on Friday, Aug. 11, brings the incomparable Fry Street Quartet back to the Festival Amadeus stage. This will be the quartet’s fifth appearance at the Festival, much to the delight of audience goers! Their program will include music of Hayden, Debussy and Beethoven and be held at 7:30 pm at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Fry Street will also perform in Bigfork on Wed. August 9, at 7:30 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church.

            Saturday Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13 will bring Mozart’s final opera, The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte) an opera In Concert. The cast will feature nationally recognized singers from across the USA and Montana including  baritone, Ricardo Herrera, Kirk Dougherty, tenor, sopranos Hanna Brammer-Dillon and Emily Peragine, bass, Stephen Morscheck and many others. This concert version will be dramatically enhanced with projected photography and visual environments. Performance will be in the original German with English Supertitles. The concerts will be held at Whitefish Performing Arts Center at 7:30 pm.
