Experience winter on two wheels

Fat bikes are becoming a popular winter sport for cycling enthusiasts wanting to extend the cycling season, but it's not just for committed riders. If you know how to ride a bicycle, you can ride a fat bike!

WHERE TO RIDE A FAT BIKE

Whitefish Bike Retreat
WBR property trails are groomed out to create some winter single track fun with a 33 inch packed trail that winds through the woods. (Beginner to Advanced Riders) - easy short loops to bermed-out trail loops - all loops 33" groomed surface. WBR is NOT responsible for any trail users safety or property. Approximately 1.5 miles of trail. Free Access For All.

The Whitefish Trail
The Lion Mountain Trailhead is well used during the winter, proving a great trail for bikes. Swift Creek Trailhead is also popular, just watch out for snowmobilers that use the trailhead. Also access the Whitefish Trail from the Whitefish Bike Retreat with access to Lower and Upper Beaver Lake Loop depending.

Round Meadow
Located just out of town on Star Meadows Road, Round Meadow is a multi-use trail system managed by the Forest Service.

Forest Service Roads
Most Forest Service Roads aren't plowed but somewhat traveled by 4x4 or snowmobile, giving a good base to ride on. A favorite is Beaver Lake Road, also a trailhead for the Whitefish Trail.

Great Northern Powder Guides
GNPG will be offering guided fat biking this winter - stay tuned for more info!

WHERE TO RENT A FAT BIKE
The Whitefish Bike Retreat, Sportsman Ski Haus and Glacier Cyclery & Nordic all have fat bikes available for rent.
